Miscellaneous Tips in Limo Rentals

  • Always check out the amenities you need in a limo. Are they what you need? Most super stretch limos and SUV are equipped with mini-bars, audio and video systems and laptop computers and swiveling couches and sofas. The more traditional limos typically have the equivalent of a freezer, and a video system with reclining seats. Check out the amenities you need as they can also impact on the rental costs.
  • If you’ve pre-booked an Airport-to-Hotel limo, will there be charges for waiting in case the plane arrives late? It’s not uncommon to see your flight delayed and you have a waiting limo at the other end. Two to three hours of waiting time may not be objectionable in terms of hourly rates and some limo operators allow a reasonable waiting time for up to an hour. But if you are anticipating more than that, it may be good idea to check that the hourly waiting rate is affordable or you can just move the pick-up time or have it cancelled if the delay is more than 6 hours.
  • Are there special needs that must be accommodated in the limo like a wheelchair ramp or infant seating? Limo rentals will often charge extra while some operators have specially designated limos suitably equipped without added charges, but admittedly could cost a bit more than a regular limo. The downside here is you may have little or no choice on the limo model.
  • Are pets allowed by the operator? Some do while others don’t. There may be surcharges to take care of pet harness or kennels as well as to cover any cleaning expenses.
  • Is the vehicle insured? Limo operators insure their vehicles but if you are getting one of those super stretch American limos and SUVs that can accommodate more than 8 passengers, do check their insurance coverage. Unless they have the proper COIF type approval from the VOSA (Vehicle and Operator Service Agency) with the right PSV operator license, no insurance company will cover them. It is a fact that there have yet to be any reported road accident that involved a super stretch limo as most are often operated within city limits and rarely exceed 40 mph. But still, that’s no excuse to forego insurance coverage.
  • Are tips or gratuities included in the rental cost? No harm asking as many limo rentals do include a 10% to 20% gratuity in the final bill.
